HONORING DALE SCAMEHORN

Dale Harley Scamehorn, 90, passed away on February 26, 2025, in Grand Haven Michigan.
Born on May 3, 1934, Dale dedicated much of his life to traveling and retired from Hope College in 1995. He also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. A devout Christian, he was a member of the Beaver Island Christian Church and found great joy in his faith and community.
Dale was a loving father to Sheryl L. VanderYacht, Susan K. Ringewold, and Robert D. Scamehorn. He was also cherished by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Scamehorn, and his spouse, Sharon Scamehorn (Malloy).
An avid traveler, Dale embraced the adventure of exploring new places but always held a deep love for Beaver Island, where he made his home. His warmth and passion for life will be remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Beaver Island this summer or fall, with details to be announced at a later date.
