IN HONOR OF BEVERLY WELCH

Beverly “Bev” Louise Welch, 79, of Beaver Island, formerly of Lapeer, passed away on March 12, 2025. Bev was born on May 24, 1945, in Flint to parents Earl and Marjorie (Hall) Bryant. Bev graduated from Lapeer West High School Class of 1963, where she was a cheerleader and voted homecoming queen. Bev worked for many years as a social worker for General Motors and later as a job counselor helping people after the layoffs. Bev was involved with many community programs, most recently preparing meals at Beaver Island Lighthouse School and celebrating the International Dark Sky Sanctuary Declaration of Beaver Island in 2024. She was very outspoken, keen on human insight, wild at heart, and a free spirit who lived life as she saw fit. She loved everything about nature and felt most at home outside. She found peace during her long walks on the beach and prided herself on eating and living a healthy, all-natural life. Bev enjoyed singing and playing the piano, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family—especially her beloved children and grandchildren whom she cared so deeply for.
Bev is survived by her sons: Thomas Welch of Okemos, Eric (Nicole) Welch of Lapeer, & Jonathan (Melissa) Welch of Traverse City; grandchildren: Kelsey, Nikita, Caspian, Bryant, Shane, Daxton, Maya, & Devina; and her brother Ken Bryant of Lapeer. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents.
Visitation for Beverly will be held at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer on March 20th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Please share memories and condolences at www.muirbrotherslapeer.com.
