Summer is officially over, and fall has made its grand appearance.

As Beaver Island begins to slow down, tourists head home, and the island settles into its quieter season, locals begin preparing for winter. But before we get too busy with our hibernation plans, take some time to enjoy the quiet beauty of Beaver Island.

Some of Beaver Island’s greatest treasures only reveal themselves when it’s just you and the island. Each time I visit, I make sure to spend time in some of my favorite, most undisturbed places and keep an eye out for the small things… the things you don’t always get to see up close and personal on the mainland.

If you have pictures of those small things (bugs, critters, plants, or something we just don’t get to see often) or even something you simply treasure about Beaver Island, share it with the Northern Islander! We want to see the small things: the little moments, creatures, and pieces of nature that make the island special to YOU.
